Economic and Social Research Council
Research Grants. Deadline: Open call. If you have an excellent idea for a research project, the EPSRC have their Research Grants open call. Awards ranging from £350,000 to £1 million (100 per cent full Economic Cost (fEC)) can be made to eligible institutions to enable individuals or research teams to undertake anything from a standard research project through to a large-scale survey and other infrastructure or methodological development.

NIHR global health policy and systems research commissioned awards
NIHR global health policy and systems research commissioned awards. The aim of the call is to support equitable partnerships between LMIC and UK researchers to generate new research knowledge and evidence to tackle priorities for health systems strengthening in ODA eligible countries in areas identified as priorities through the NIHR’s engagement and consultation exercise. Awards of up to £4m for a duration of up to 4 years are available for partnerships/consortia led by two Joint Lead Applicants (one from an LMIC and one from a UK institution) and up to three additional Co-Applicants. There are many funding opportunities with an emphasis on research. Deadline:11 December 2019
Open Competition: Rapid Impact Innovations
Proposals in this category are encouraged for projects which have a realistic prospect of achieving an impact within a 3 year time frame from the commencement of the project. In this category, there is an expectation that proposals will be funded only if there is a strong customer pull and capability need for the idea. Accordingly, additional effort will be required by suppliers to ensure there is positive user interest in the idea before submitting a proposal.
Open Competition: Emerging Innovations
In this category, DSTL are encouraging the submission of proposals across a wide range of technology areas with the aim of finding new and novel opportunities for these to be exploited across Defence and/or Security. Emerging innovations are viewed as those which will deliver a proof of concept at around Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 or 4, which in outline means delivering a proof of concept, with component and/or sub-system validation in laboratory-style environment by the end of your proposed work.
Health Innovation Manchester opens £300,000 Momentum funding call for companies with innovative healthcare solutions
Businesses with innovative healthcare products or services can now apply for a share of £300,000 as the Health Innovation Manchester Momentum funding call opens. The Momentum Fund has been established to support the introduction and adoption of needs-led, evidence-based innovations into the healthcare system within Greater Manchester. This year, the fund is looking at innovations focussed on two themes: - Urgent and Emergency Care - Cardiovascular disease, diabetes, nutrition or obesity (Cardiometabolic needs) Companies and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with innovations which are either market ready or close to being market ready are welcome to apply. All applications must include evidenced involvement from an NHS or Social Care Organisation within the Health Innovation Manchester footprint, which encompasses Greater Manchester and East Cheshire. Applicants may apply for funding between £25,000 and £75,000 and projects can last up to 12 months
Sheffield City Region Business Investment Funds
Grants of £25,000 upwards are available to SMEs in Sheffield City Region for capital expenditure. Applicants should demonstrate their project would be unable to go ahead without access to funding.
AD:VENTURE – Leeds City Region Business Support
ERDF AD:VENTURE provides funded support to eligible pre-start, young and new businesses in Leeds City Region including: mentoring, workshops, finance brokerage, business incubator space, one-to-one consultancy projects and peer-to-peer learning.
