A new animation has been launched to explain the benefits of the Growing Occupational Health and Wellbeing North East and North Cumbria pilot.
The animation takes the viewer on a journey, showing the creation of a new wellness culture for staff working within NHS Foundation Trusts in the central and southern locality of the Integrated Care System.
Supported by the AHSN NENC, the pilot brings together four NHS Trusts with a single, integrated Occupational Health and Wellbeing service, to improve the OH services offered to NHS staff across the region.
The alignment of services across the four organisations during the pilot and the subsequent wider rollout, offers clear benefits to healthcare staff, the NHS as a whole and will help to attract, develop and retain the occupational health workforce of the present and future.
Gary Wright, Programme Director, said: “The mental and physical health and wellbeing of NHS staff, who have worked heroically through the pandemic, is at the forefront of the Growing OH and Wellbeing pilot. Our collaborative approach will improve quality and speed of access to services, empowering people and signposting them to the right care and support when they need it.
We have created our new animation to explain how the pilot works and what it delivers for staff. We hope that the animation will be a useful tool, to get people talking about the pilot and recognise the difference it will make to occupational health and wellbeing services in our region. As the programme team running the pilot, we’re pleased to be working with staff to gather their feedback and bring everyone on the journey with us.”
The four Trusts involved in the pilot are: South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The project team have ambitious plans to expand the programme in the future, moving beyond individual OH services and towards a more integrated and proactive way of working which will transform the workforce across the region. The AHSN NENC supports the delivery of the project, working closely alongside the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care system and the four participating Trusts. Funding for the pilot programme was awarded by NHS England and Improvement.
